Trip to Møns Klint

Before moving to Sweden, we had a week to spend in Denmark (this was 3 weeks ago). We stayed at Kasper's parents house, and one day we borrowed the car and went south of Copenhagen, to a place called Møns Klint (Cliffs of Møn). Møn is an island and the point facing east and the Baltic Sea are covered with white chalk cliffs. The highest point measures 123m above the sea! Read more here (in English).

We had made a little picnic basket and went down to the beach to eat and watch the cliffs and sea. As you can see, I didn't have the right type of shoes on for walking on the beach, so after our little lunch we went back up again. Easier said than done.. 500 or something steps in the stairs later we were back to the car. Eventhough the sun almost had passed by the beach and cliffs, it was very beautiful and powerful to see and I think I got some nice pictures (click to enlarge):

Walking down was no problem..

On our way back up trough the forest, and of course we chose the warmest day of the summer to climb stairs.

Have a nice weekend!

I'm back!

And I have so many blogtopics and pictures to show you! But I think I will devide them into different posts, but first an update.

As you know, we have now moved to Sweden, to Helsingborg, because I'm going to study at the University of Lund this fall. We have during our time in Barcelona had our old apartment in Denmark rented out, so the first week in Sweden, we didn't have any furniture (they were in the old apartment). But last weekend the guy who had rented our apartment moved to an other place, so we could move the furniture to Sweden. So at least now, we got furniture but there are still some movingboxes and things that need to be done.

There are just so many things that has to get taken care of when you move and especially to a "new" country. These are just a few: Registration, insurences, registration of dog, getting Internet, getting mobile nr, choosing health clinic, change address, choosing electrical supplier, signing contracts.....
And of course you have to find "your" new supermarket, farmacy, postoffice, petstore, health clinic, vet.clinic, hairdresser, pizzeria ;) etcetc

Well enough about the wining, I love moving to a new place and city, and I'm looking forward to live here in Helsingborg! Already liking it!

Now to something else. Charlie the dog has been to the hospital. After we had been in Denmark, picking up the furniture, he had started to cough and making through-up-movements when eating. So we called the hospital on Thuesday and went there Wednesday morning. The lady I talked to thought that maybe it was the "kennelcough" which is highly infectious, so we had to wait outside the hospital. I thought he had something in his throat, and I was right. He had got a thread (probably from a sock) around his tongue and down his throat.
They took him in and we went home. Unfortunally they didn't have time to operate the same day, so he had to stay during the night. They put him in anasthesia and then went down the throat to look. If the thread went all the way to the intestines, they had to open him up.
But luckely, it ended in the bowl so they could just pull it up again.

Puh. Poor Charlie, poor wallet, poor my nerves. We got him home today and he is fine, just tired.

Good to be home and is pleased to be allowed to be in the bed

ByeBye Barcelona

And so came the last day for our year (or almost year) in Barcelona. I have actually been looking forward to this day. It feels like I have done everything I wanted here, and I am ready for a new chapter in life. But even though, it feels a bit sad leaving. Especially all "lasts". For example today was the last day I babysat Gabriel, last time I went by the metro, last time I looked over a sunny Barcelona from our balcony..

Of course there will be things I'm going to miss about Barcelona and Spain. One obvious thing is the sun and weather, moving up north again means colder climate and more rain. But to be honest, right now I'm looking forward to Scandinavian summer weather, in which you actually can do things and be outside without melting (but I bet in 3 weeks I will be whining and wanting to go back.. ;)) Here some things I will miss:

- Living 1min from the beach and everything that comes along with it (chiringuitos, bars, restaurants…)
- But at the same time living in a metropolitan city that really has everything; sports, culture, gastronomy, 1,5h to ski-resorts, nightlife, fashion and shopping..

On the other hand, there are things that I won't miss and that I'm looking forward to in Sweden:
- Swedish food!
- Elementary things not taking forever, like getting Internet installed (or canceled; I will tell you about it later), getting registrated in Spain etc.
- Not being seen as a tourist
- Commodities like having a dishwasher, living in a building with elevator ;)

But what I'm looking forward the most to start a new school, meet new people, living in Sweden and a new city. It will be exciting to see how I will cope with life in a "little" town now. I grew up in Stockholm, then lived in Copenhagen for 3 years (both around 2million inhabitants) and Barcelona (4million) for one year. Now I'm moving to Helsingborg in Sweden, a town on the west coast with about 130.000! But that will be an experience and I'll have Copenhagen 1 hour away in train.

The apartment got filled up with moving boxes

I must finish of by saying VIVA ESPAÑA, en domingo VAMOOOS! Our last night, we spent on a beach bar watching the semifinal of the World Cup between Germany and Spain (and for you who didn't see the match, Spain won and are now going to play the final on Sunday against Holland).

Last night in Barcelona, before the game

Spain is happy to be in the final

Well, good bye Barcelona, at least for this time. We will probably be back for a short visit in November when Kasper is graduating, but until then; take care and I will miss you!

An olive twig from Gabriel and his mom & dad, which means good luck and as a little reminder of Spain and Barcelona.

Wordless Wednesday

Found this picture on Jennifer's blog. Not only is it a really good picture with a lot of wonderful colors, but I also love the H.C Andersen-quote!

One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower"
