People watching

Two weeks ago, I did a People Watching post and now I have gathered some more people-watching-goodies for you!

First we have something I have seen before at this park. There are grown-up people, having bicycle lessons :) It looks kind of funny, at first they learn to lead the bike, then roll with it sitting on the bicycle with their legs hanging on each side. Then I guess they learn to pedal, but that lesson I haven't seen yet. It is actually a really good idea!

I didn't want them to see that I took pictures, so this is with the zoom on my digital camera, taken from the dog park (click to enlarge). I will try to take better pictures next time!

We then have a funny contrast between the fully dressed old ladies with pants and jackets, and the young boys almost wearing nothing (and what's up with the rolled up leg?)

An other one I have seen a few times before is the man with his bicycle and attached to the bicycle is a small sidecar with a small roof. Inside the sidecar sits his dog!

Last but not least: This week we have had sailors in town! Don't know where they come from or why, but it's always nice to look at :)

And when I was about to write this post, a big group (maybe a hundred) of people on cycles crusied the street, playing music and ringing their bells. I was super fast and got some of it on video (not really the music though.. the guy at the front had the speakers..) I think they are listening to "Give peace a chance - John Lennon", but at first I thought it sounded like they were listening/singing "...oh we are sailing.."? It would have been a nice ending for my post; combining bicycles and sailing :)

Tomorrow Kasper, Charlie and I are going on a small roadtrip, going back Wednesday. We are going to Andorra, Figueres and Cadaques. More of that when we come home.

Blog Award!

Wohoo I have now recived my first nomination to a blog award! It's called The Master of Karate and Friendship award and I got it from NYC Island Gal! How cool isn't that! :) Thank you!!

I have actually had karate lessons some years ago, but only for a few of months. It was very fun however and you really got to train the whole body. Puh, exhausted just thinking about it! Master of friendship I don't know, right now I live on the opposite side of the continent from my friends, but I will be back soon!

I'm quite picky when it comes to which blogs I read. I start reading a lot of blogs, but if it's not updated enough, I loose interest. I do however read about 20 blogs a day and here are four blogs I think fit with the title (friendly and egdy) (with links):

Going light and dark

Yepp at the same time! This is my two new friends for the summer:

The left one will hopefully give me a nice tan and the right one hopefully lighter hair. Today I tried both. You probably know bronzing oil, but what's up with the chamomile tea?

Well I tried what I had read on the web (for instance here), and this is the result:

I don't know, maybe a little bit lighter? I think you have to do it a couple of times for better results. This is how you do it:

- Make really strong chamomile tea (1,5l with 4-6 (I had 6) tea bags)

- Wait for it to cool

- Wash your hair

- Then rinse the hair with the tea several times

- Sweep a damp towel around your hair and wait 10 min

- Brush your hair and let it dry in the sun (if you don't have time or if it's not sunny, I read that you can wear the towel for a bit longer instead).

For you with other haircolors, I read that you can use:

Black tea for brown/black/dark hair

Hibiscus tea for red hair

Rosemary and salvia tea for gray hair

I'm going to have a spray bottle (you know the ones you use for flowers) with me to the beach this summer, filled with chamomile tea, to spray the hair with while sunbathing. Unlike lemon (which also makes your hair lighter) the chamomile doesn't make the hair look like a birds nest afterwards. And best of all, it's super cheap!

SPOOKY!!!

OK, ghost factor is high in this post!! For you who are easily scared, don't look at the movie. This happened yesterday morning. Kasper had been out with the dog and then returned to bed. He started seeing a blinking/pulsating light on the wall, but thought that he was dreaming. But the light kept on coming up on the wall, so he decided to video tape it, just to prove to himself that it wasn't real. Well as you can see the light was real.. He then fell asleep and some hours later we woke up and he showed me the movie. And as you also can see, the light stopped after he had filmed it. (Look over the shelf for a round pattern. It comes about 4 times, the third time really bright, and then ends).

We started coming up with natural explanations. The pulsating light could come from a laptop on standby (you know sometimes they have a small lamp blinking), but there were no laptops near.. It could also be the light reflecting from a watch (there of the round shape), but again, no watches near..

We decided that it must be a light coming from the livingroom because you can see that the pattern is shaded on the right side because of the wardrobe door. The scary thing is that we only have windows on the wall the pattern came on, and the sun in the livingroom (the room next to the bedroom) comes through the windows at 1-2 in the afternoon and this was in the morning.

The explanation we came up with is the following:

The sun must have shone on something in the harbour outside our livingroom window. That thing were probably moving (which of the pulsating) and giving a reflex on our electricity meter in the livingroom outside the bedroom. Lastly the meter must have passed the light on to the bedroom wall. Logic huh!? (please say it's logical!). We thought of trying it out by shining a flashlight on the meter, but decided not to. What if it didn't come any relfections?! We just accepted the electricity-meter-explanation:

From one in 1500 to one of The F15!

That's my baby!! From 1500 applications he went on to the 200 that got a telephone interview. From there he continued to the 90 persons going to Copenhagen for a personal interview. And yesterday he went to Århus for the final step; about 35 people in the assessment center wanting one of the 15 spots for Arla Graduate Programme, also called F15 (Future 15).

5 hours after he had left the center, they called and said he was the first one they called and that he got the job!! I'm so happy for him; no more worries about what to do after the summer. And now we can start looking for apartments, and I don't mean rental but buying!! Wohoooo

Tonight we're going out to celebrate.

Wordless Wednesday

This Wednesday is for my dear friend M who is going back to India today; I will miss you!

The package has arrived!

Wohoo, today I got home my package I wrote about some week ago. Or I didn't get it home. They said it was going to be sent with DHL, but yesterday I found a note in my postbox saying that tomorrow (today) I could get it at the postoffice. So after a walk in the rain today, I finally got my stuff I ordered.

Hehe so, what is it, what is it!?

You probably won't be as excited as I am, but here it is:

What is that?? It's for making nail stamps! The nail polishes are extra thick, making them perfect for the stamping. Then I bought a stamp, a scraper and 3 different plates with patterns. The nail file I got for free.

I started out by just trying some different patterns on the nail polish I allready had on my nails:

Tree flowers, rose-pattern, dots and stipes,

and two different flower-patterns

I then decided for the one with the tree flowers. I used my new purple nail polish from KIKO under the stamps.

Cute huh!? :)

The ones who are making these patterns are the Korean company Konad. I first saw it on a nail blog, and then found some sites from where you could order it. The problem was that most of them were in the US, making the shipping expencive and probably paying customs. But then I found the German website Nail Design, from which I ordered.

Food for Friends

You could not belive how many food blogs there are out there. You could try and search food blogs at Google and the first 6-7 something hits are just communities or vanues for food bloggers. Then try in your own language and you will get at least as many. Not to mention all the allready established recipe-sites. I don't follow any food blogs (yet) but I do use the Swedish recipe-sites Recept.nu and Tasteline for inspiration and for look-ups.

So what is a food blog? Well quite simple, it's what it sounds like; a person that blogs about food. Some make their own recepies, some just post what they had for lunch and others come from magazines or tv-programmes. Oh, I do follow one. But it's more of a nutrition blog. Elsa writes (in Swedish..) about the good and the bad stuff in vegetables, fruites etc. and how to use them in the best way. She also writes about how to buy and cook food with as small an impact as possible on the environment.

Ok, so I thought I should give it a try, since I love (hm, maybe not love, love is a strong word, more like very much) to bake and cook:

Today you will get the recipe for my chocolate cupcakes I wrote about before.

Chocolate Cupcakes

About 12pc

2 eggs

2,5 dl sugar

100g butter (melted)

1,5 tsp vanilla sugar

1 pinch salt

4 tbsp cocoa (or 5-6 of the powder you use for chocolate milk, like Nesquik)

2 dl flour

1 tsp baking powder

Whisk eggs and sugar into a porous mixture. Mix the rest of the ingredients and whisk to a smooth dough. Put it in the cupcake cases (almost to the edge).

Bake at 200C in the middle of the oven for 10-15min (depending on your oven). They should look like they are not done, in that way they will get chewy and creamy.

Let them cool down. Done!

For you who don't bake because the kitchen gets nasty and there's always plenty to wash afterwards, think about it. For this you need something to mix the things in and something to whisk with, not that much huh? And these are perfect if your friends are coming over or maybe your parents, and you have nothing to serve. They take about 30min in total to do and are made of things you almost always have in the kitchen!

Gender differences

Today I did some web-window-shopping, since I'm out of money (as you know..). I found some really nice things, here are a few:

The first two come from the Swedish webshop Bluebox; a dog bowl from Alessi and headphones that looks like cakes/muffins.

The makeup pallette with 88 eyeshadows (for 19$!! but that is without shipping to Europe and duty..) is from the American webshop Costal Scents, the top is from H&M (change to your language in the down right corner) and the sandal from ASOS.

I then asked Kasper what he would like to have if he could window shop? -The new Ferrari 458 Italia..

Well I guess we are a bit different! I found things I actually could afford if I got some more jobs, but he (and I think that is quite typical guys?) aimed for the highest possible.
